Guest Post: Valentine's Day Picks By Mrs. F. From SecondHandSewn

For my first-ever guest post (!), I asked my good buddy, Mrs. F. from SecondHandSewn to enlighten us with some Valentine's Day goodness.

Check out her fabulous picks, and be sure to visit her blog if you're in need of style inspiration, design inspiration and everything-else-inspiration!

so my buddy j-w invited me to guest post on her fantabulous blog a few weeks ago... and here i am! super honored and excited to be deemed worthy of choosing v-day jewels by the jewelrywhore herself. i used to hate valentine's day. actually, my friends and i said that the one thing we liked about valentine's day was the 50% off chocolate the day after (and let's be serious, we all like that). these days, i think about valentine's day a bit differently. it seems like we don't tell each other often enough how much we care, and so many people have a really hard time expressing their feelings. why not have a whole day dedicated to reminding us to love on our friends and family... or making it a bit easier for those who have a hard time saying the dreaded 3 words? anyway, i digress. my husband and i tend to keep most holidays (except christmas) pretty low budget, so my gift picks are all under $50. here we go!

key no. 2- edor (etsy) $20

i love super delicate, sweet, wear it every day necklaces... and this fits the bill. plus, there's something a little romantic about keys, don't you think?

brass locket necklace- vamoose (etsy) $16

what's more romantic than a locket? i imagine this being given with a secret, tiny love note inside. and if the give-ee is really ambitious, it could even be engraved with a secret message...

ribbon raindrop necklace- j.crew $45
this one is a tad on the expensive side for what it is... but so cute and girly! this could completely change the look of any outfit. i love how the ribbon takes something that could come across as a bit tough and abstract in a totally different direction.

starbright studs- marymaryhandmade (etsy) $30
these are just so. damn. cute. how could you not be happy every time you wore them? they're so tiny and simple that they could mix with everything. they are especially cute to me because to my husband- i'm the 'little star'. what a sweet gift. if your give-ee is super ambitious...

make it yourself hidden message necklace ( I guess under $30 for supplies)
how romantic is THIS. handmade gift, and personalized with a secret message. now, i said under $50... but if i got surprised with one of these, i would be a very excited girl...

tiffany jazz ring- tiffany and co. $4,100
so delicate, sparkly, and pretty. every piece of fine jewelry my husband has ever bought me has come from tiffany, so now it's kinda tradition, i suppose. i love the concept of the 'celebration rings'... a sparkly reminder of happy times.

and the worst valentine's gift ever:

elephant poo paper roses. seriously. $15-$48
flowers made of poop. they say they're more environmentally friendly, but... um... gross. you might want to break up with him if you get these, ladies. appliances like vaccuums and toasters are also probably a bad idea... unless you're giving

this
that would be just fine.

don't forget to send your mom a card and eat some chocolate... and come visit me over on my blog! happy valentine's day!
