Weekend Finds

I Almost Got In A Wreck And Yelled At A Teenaged Driver On The Way To The "We Love Jesus" Flea Market For These Weekend Finds!

True story. Some 12 year old almost ran into me and  I, of course, did what was right and yelled some choice curse words at him. They have to learn some time! It's the rules of the road! (Altho I did feel a little bad afterwards).

Anyway, I motored on, made it to "We Love Jesus" flea market (that is its honest-to-goodness name) and found some seriously cool jewelry.

At first glance I thought this might have been bakelite, but it turned out to just be carved plastic - still cool tho! Especially for $6. I love the graphic-ness of it, too.

I've been hunting for a box chain like this one, and it's wicked cool, really heavy and has a great patina. $7. I should've haggled with the proprietess, but I'm a worthless haggler.

Coolest jewelry find in A WHILE. I am obsessed with this piece. It's not a  necklace - it's a chain, with one large pin/pendant and 2 small pins/pendants on each end - no clasp (maybe a cousin of the sweater clip?).

I couldn't quite capture the high quality of this piece - the rhinestones are in such great shape. Ya know how they usually get kind of murky and dark? Not these - they're crystal clear and sparkly.

Seriously obsessed with this piece. It had a little bit of the green funk that copper sometimes gets, but with a little bit of white vinegar, it looks almost like new.

Weekend Finds!

So we went yardsaling this weekend, and after 3 or 4 unsuccessful stops, we stumbled on a jackpot: a church's indoor yard sale. Tables and tables of goodness. And this:

These are the kinds of things that make my heart go pitter-patter.

Here's what I scavenged out of the selection:

The beaded necklaces are fab, and will definitely come in handy during the holidays (check out the rhinestone clasp on the pearl necklace). The second necklace is sterling I think - it's pretty heavy and it'll look amazing once it's shined up. And, my favorite find of the bunch, the vintage, black, leather timex. It's perfectly broken in, and the leather has that sheen that only old leather does. I'm in love. Now I just need a battery.

Oh, and did I mention I got all of these pieces for about $2 total?!?. OH HECK YES.

Rock and Shop Market Update

The Rock and Shop Market was super-cool! Thank goodness it was inside, in a nice, cool restaurant, because it was hot as all GET OUT on Saturday. Almost 100 degrees. And it's only June.

Wicked Weekend Find!

Without fail, I find something fabulous every time I go to my favorite thrift store, the B Box.

Plunder From Chicago

Ok, I couldn't wait any longer! I was supposed to hold off until my actual bday (19th) to play with all my new trinkets, but I just can't! Ack! I got this necklace at Art Effect, which was my favorite store in Chicago! So effing cool. Their Web site is great, but does the physical store NO JUSTICE. I could have spent years and years in there!

Weekend Find

They weren't gone, they were just hiding! Shazam! $3.74! I'd never seen this one before, and thought I was going to buy the coral/white bracelet, but this one looks wikkid cool on, and I loove it! What better way to spend a rainy Saturday than wandering around Target and finding treasures!

Weekend Finds

Ya know, I may have a problem...I seem to find jewels almost EVERY weekend! Maybe I should cut back........... Ahahahha. I craks myself up. Ok, so here are this weekend's fabulous finds! Brought to you by Acorn Attic, an amazing little antique store that I've driven by at least 5000 times. I guess I thought that because the outside was so fabulous (it's a beautiful old church), and it has talk of "Appointments" on its front door, that there wouldn't be anything in my price range. Luckily I was oh so wrong!
