Designer Discovery: Satya Jewelry

"Satya" meaning "truth" 'is inspired by the designer’s many travels across the world, encountering cultures, temples, villages, museums and local markets. Such diverse elements as personal meditation, Thai textiles, ancient Indian coins, Sanskrit words and castings from found objects (including shells, stone carvings and leaves) evolve into unique designs' (via).

Each lovely piece is designed with wellness in mind, and the stones are all chosen for their healing powers. And if that's not enough goodness for you, they also donate a percentage of their sales to children’s organizations through the Satya Foundation.

Grayce By Molly Sims

The lovely Elisa from Always Adorned recently wore some fab earrings in one of her posts; turns out they were from a line she worked on with Molly Sims for HSN! The whole collection is gorgeous and modern but with a twist of old hollywood glamour.

Designer Discovery: Macha

"‘...Macha is about a quiet rebellion, not necessarily‘beautiful’, but not without nobility either, rough and warm-hearted and full of ripe character. It‘s witty, tenacious and defiant with an air of old fashioned peace...’(via)"

Bernice Kelly, the designer behind Macha (which is pronounce with a silent "c"), makes each piece of her jewelry by hand, using only precious metals. Ms. Kelly began Macha as a hobby, but after it was picked up by Kabiri, she realized there was more to Macha than just being a hobby. Besides Kabiri, Macha is available internationally in independent boutiqes.

Designer Discovery: Brevity

Brevity by Anna Corpron has been floating around the blogosphere for a while now, but I love it so much I just had to feature it.

"Brevity, designed by Anna Corpron of Sub-Studio, brings together influences of graphic design, architecture, and modern fabrication techniques to explore the possibilities of jewelry design" (via).

You can definitely see all of Anna's influences in her subtle yet terribly charming jewels.

I love the tiny watch gears on the chain!

Designer Discovery: Digby and Iona

There's not a ton of info about Digby & Iona on their site, so let's just look at their pretty wares, shall we?

(I'm obsessed with this necklace. Obsessed!)

Designer Discovery: Brianna Fano

Brianna Fano became interested in jewelry at a young age, and honed her design aesthetic while studying at Parsons School of Design in New York City. Her jewelry "is made from antique materials that are incorporated into hand made pieces with a modern twist" (via).

She's currently working on her first full-fledged collection, and I'm sure it's going to be stunning!

(This is my favorite necklace of the bunch - love it!)

Designer Discovery: AK Vintage

I discovered AK Vintage by Anna Korte a few months ago and fell in love. And then I found out the whole collection was made out of 95-100% vintage/sustainable materials. And then I found out that Anna's inspiration comes from poetry, and she's named her pieces after tidbits from e.e. cummings, John Burroughs, etc. Needless to say, the environmentalist/english major nerd in me was hooked.

AK Vintage is based out of Portland, Oregon. Ms. Korte finds materials for her creations at antique stores, estate sales and old costume jewelry warehouses. She also recycles antique leather gloves for her pieces (via).

Soooo she gets to go to awesome estate sales and jewelry warehouses to look for antique jewelry. Best job ever? Erm, yes.

Designer Discovery: Hazel and Harlow

I don't really do "sweet" jewelry. It never seems to translate well. But then I found Hazel and Harlow.

'Love birds' pendant, $150 / 'Simple life vine' drop pendant, $75 / 'Heart of gold' earrings - petite, $95 / 'Antiqued elephant silhouette' pendant, $95

'Swallow' pendant, $150 / Elephant stacking band, $125 / 'Sleepy owl' earrings, $95

Cute without being cutesy, sweet without being cloying. The whole collection is reasonably priced, ethically sourced and a proceed from each purchase goes to a different charity each month. What more could you want! I've definitely got my eye on a few of these pieces for Christmas presents.

Designer Discovery and Une Petite Interview With Anita Quansah

When Anita Quansah contacted me about her jewelry, I knew I had to feature it on here. It's like nothing I've ever seen before; I was blown away.

Come to find out the reason it was so amazing is because Ms. Quansah has boatloads of experience under her belt: She "studied BA textile design at Chelsea College of Art and Design London"...and has workder "for some of the leading textile and fashion design houses such as Christian Lacroix, DKNY, Diane Von Furstenberg, Ischiko, Victoria Secret, Ecko and textiles Weisbrod Zurrer and Sandy Starkman" (via).

All of her pieces are handmade, with reclaimed and vintage textiles.

JW: What drew you to start creating jewelry?
AQ: Am a lover of big statement jewellery, I love collecting unique looking pieces. But what drew me to designing my jewellery line is my passion and love for creativity. My collection of jewellery is a bit of bohemian tribal fused with effortless chic with a modern twist. Inspired by my passion for creativity, travel, nature, art, architecture, fashion (contemporary and vintage), and music of past and present generation.
